Pat Lincoln has just completed my course on formal languages and
computability.  He was, by a ten percent margin, the best in a class
of ten graduate students.  He was an active and attentive participant,
probably catching more than half of my errors that were caught at all.  I
have just read his solutions of the problems on a challenging take-home
final exam; some were extremely fine.  I consider him very promising.
